First, you need a plan. It’s much more than simply buying some equipment and putting up flyers. What do you specialize in? Who is your target market? What makes you different from the competition? Why should people trust you?

Once you’ve answered these questions, then you have the basis for finding your clients and attracting them to you.

If you don’t plan, you’ll be wasting your time and money.

Depending on what country you are, there are various landlord associations and trade associations.

If you register with these and offer a good service at a sensible price, then you should soon start to get established with the local landlords.

Contacting realtors (estate agents?) and not only offering to do cleaning for them directly but also offering them 10% (for example) to anyone they put your way may also quickly get you on your way.

As always, if you quality is good and your price is right, you will quickly get a name for yourself locally.

LOL you will also get a name for yourself locally if the reverse is true!

    Good luck

Make up a flier about yourself and get some refrences together contact them and see if they would give you a good word then put there names and phone numbers on. And if some of these that you’ve cleaned for in the past are like important types like business people, Doctors or lawyers etc sort of include that in your advertizement. Then go around to the different office and contractors etc and introduce yourself to them. Maybe to get it off the ground offer a Unbelieveable deal like if the normal cleaners get $ 20 per hour to kick off your business say You’ll do it for $ 10/ hr….Then check back a time or 2 with those same people. Run a ad in the local new papers.

Realtor is a trademark of the national Board of Realtors. Not all real estate agents are Realtors.

Working with real estate agents can be profitable, but there are some pitfalls: the real estate agent may not have any money to pay you until closing the deal. Lots of real estate agents have a number of properties listed and pending closing, but not much cash on hand, so you should either insist on cash up front or wait until receiving a check at closing.

You might also want to look into becoming certified as a home inspector, they’re often paid by the buyer at the same time as credit app fees and appraisal fees.

Worked for a lady who did this!
she charged soemthing lik .33 cents per square foot!
to get started you have to get clients and the best way to do that is to give them a break while they are working!
or at least ask for the project manager and sell your company to him! once you land the contract or deal! then you do the work that is needed!
set up pay roll and how are you going to do that!

one of the best thigns to look into is devleoping a buisness plan
    SBA.org should have a templete!

Since you’ve never been in business before, I would strongly recommend that you talk to a business counselor before you do anything especially spend money. You have to determine whether you’ll start a web based business or one with a store front. I’d call the local office of SCORE (go to and input your zip code to find the chapter nearest you), the advice is FREE.

The counselor at SCORE will most likely advise you to write a business plan which is very good advice because it will force you to dig out all of the start up details and the costs of starting a cleaning business and force you to also understand all of the aspects of this business including the all of the different customers you’ll concentrate on (your market ) and how you’ll go after them.

You’ll need to register the business with your state controller’s office and make sure that you have any city and county licenses if any are needed where you live. All of this will come out in a business plan.

Try this link : and read some of the articles especially the ones about a business plan and starting a business.
    Good Luck
